The Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) First Stakeholder Forum
We will be holding our first Stakeholder Forum on 7 December in Brussels.
This Stakeholder Forum is a one-day public event dedicated to engaging directly in dialogue with BBI JU’s stakeholders. We want to hear your opinions on the opportunities and obstacles for moving the bio-based industries forward.
You can find out about the BBI JU initiative and meet our 65 ongoing projects who will be exhibiting their projects throughout the event in the BBI JU project exhibition.
Please note: BBI JU is unable to cover the costs of travel or accommodation for participants at this event.

Plenary sessions and keynote speeches
The event will include plenary sessions with keynote speeches, interactive discussions with our high-level expert panels, and thematic breakout sessions, with plenty of networking around the project exhibition area throughout the day.
We have invited champions of the bio-based economy to present their vision for bio-based industries in Europe.
In the plenary sessions, key contributors and thought leaders will present their views on the roadmap for a bio-based Europe, the strategic context of the BBI initiative & its achievements so far, some lessons learned & how future sector development can be designed to address stakeholders’ concerns.
Thematic workshop sessions
Thematic workshop sessions will provide the chance for our stakeholders to contribute their views on the way forward in the following areas:
- The role of the primary sector in building bio-based industries
- Industrial innovation - defining the direction for science-based innovation
- The value for Europe’s citizens – aligning economic & societal expectations & needs
- New markets, new sectors, new products
The outputs from the event will be collected and used as stakeholder feedback to help shape BBI JU’s role in the bioeconomy for the coming years.
